The 60s, known as the ìclassical rockî era, bore witness to many derivate forms of rock music. This decade saw the development of genres like Psychedelic rock, Garage rock
(garage punk), Hard rock, and Progressive rock. Metal also broke into the scene as a result of the psychedelic/acid rock phenomenon that was taking place and reached it
full potential in the subsequent ten years.
In the 70s, genres like Glam rock and Celtic rock (both seen as a bit left wing with their sounds and styles) came about as the result of the culture change of the decade.
Also during the 70s, the subgenre known as Christian rock emerged as a response to the ìanti-Christianî stigma placed on rock music as a whole.
